Cute Brands Review and Gift Card Giveaway!
Posted by: | CommentsI’m really excited about this giveaway for several reasons! First, this is another chance for one of my lucky readers to win a great prize! But, secondly, I’m partnering with a friend from grad school on this one, so I’m particularly excited.
I’m always impressed by true entrepreneurs—especially ones who are brave enough to launch their businesses during bad economic times—so I’m very proud of my former grad school classmate, Louie Lam, and his wife for opening their online store, Cute Brands. Cute Brands is an eco-friendly line of children’s and adults’ clothes.
The Cute Brands clothing pieces are emblazoned with several different characters. Each character has a back story and helps bring social awareness about a different environmental crisis. You can read about each character and his/her cause on the Cute Brands website.
To top it all off, the company donates a percentage of its annual profits to charities dedicated to helping endangered animals. Louie was kind enough to send me a Love Panda shirt for myself and a Kung Fu Tiger shirt for my son. I’ve worn mine twice already. It’s really soft and fits really well (you can see me sporting it in the picture above). Unfortunately, my son has been a sick, snotty mess for a few days now, so I haven’t been able to get a good picture of him wearing his Kung Fu shirt. But it’s also nice and soft, 
so I’m sure he will really like it once he’s back to his normal self. My only criticism is that the sizes run small, so be sure to order up at least one size for your kids.

What to Expect Books Giveaway
Posted by: | CommentsIt’s about time for another giveaway, and this is a great one! When I was pregnant, I perused dozens of books about pregnancy, childbirth, and raising a baby. But there 
were only two or three books that I actually purchased, and only one that I read religiously. That book was What to Expect When You’re Expecting. It’s not surprisingly, really, since the What to Expect book series are the tried and true books against which all other pregnancy and child-rearing books are measured. It has been in print for over two decades, and millions of mothers-to-be have relied on its wisdom during their pregnancies.
Of course, the What to Expect series has books that are for veteran or second-time (or third or fourth…) moms as well. They have books about healthy eating, trouble conceiving, and raising older children. 
So, the What to Expect publishers have agreed to let the winners choose among three books of their most popular titles. Winners of this giveaway can choose 1) What to Expect When You’re Expecting, 2) What to Expect the First Year, or 3) What to Expect the Second Year.
Even if you already own all of these books, they make great gifts for friends who are newly pregnant. Plus, they are great resources to have on hand. I’ve referenced my What to Expect the First Year book many times even after I had read it cover to cover.

Baby in Bliss DVD and CD Giveaway

short hiatus with another giveaway! Baby in Bliss is a soothing CD and DVD combo filled with songs chock full of positive messages for young kids. I played the CD for my son several times during our recent car trips back and forth between our old house and new one. Since he tends to prefer more upbeat music, he wasn’t overly enthused by the songs. However, it worked well as a naptime CD for him. I’m sure younger babies—especially newborns—would enjoy the music more. It’s ethereal in nature and features such song titles as “Spirit,” “Gratitude,” and “Freedom.” Baby in Bliss has a nice, peaceful feel to it.
